Delhi Protest: Sadhus Join Protest Outside Bangladesh High Commission, Call for Protection of Hindus

Protests outside the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi intensified on Wednesday as sadhus and religious leaders joined demonstrators to express concern over the reported attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. The protest, organized by various Hindu groups, saw participants carrying banners and placards demanding stronger action to ensure the safety of minorities in the neighboring country. Several sadhus addressed the media during the demonstration, stating that the objective of the protest was to send a “strong message” against what they described as continued atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh. They urged the Indian government to increase diplomatic pressure on Dhaka and raise the issue at international forums to ensure the protection of minority rights. Protesters attempted to move closer to the High Commission, leading to a tense situation as police stopped them at multiple barricades. Delhi Police made repeated announcements requesting demonstrators to remain peaceful and disperse, stating that permission had not been granted for the protest at the location. Senior police officials remained present on the spot to manage the situation. Women also participated in large numbers, holding posters and appealing to the central government to take firm steps. Demonstrators said their protest was symbolic and aimed at highlighting humanitarian concerns rather than targeting any community. Authorities confirmed that security arrangements have been further strengthened around diplomatic premises. The situation remains under close watch as demonstrations continue amid ongoing diplomatic engagement between India and Bangladesh.
