Kulgam Terror Attack: Omar Abdullah Announces ₹10 Lakh Compensation for Victims’ Families

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the terrorist attack in Kulgam district that claimed the lives of two migrant workers and announced an ex gratia of ₹10 lakh each for the families of the deceased. The attack took place in Kilan village, where terrorists allegedly identified the victims before opening fire, killing them in a targeted attack. Security forces have intensified search operations across the area to track down those responsible. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a barbaric act of terrorism, and said he had directed the Director General of Police and security agencies to strengthen operations to eliminate the perpetrators. BJP leader Ravinder Raina also denounced the attack, calling for the strictest punishment for the terrorists. One of the victims, Deepak Ratre, was a resident of Sakti district in Chhattisgarh who had been working at a brick kiln in Kashmir to support his family. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed deep grief, paid tribute to the deceased, and assured full support to the bereaved families.
