Parliament War: Anti-Paper Leak Bill Debate: Government and Opposition Clash Over Exam Reforms

The debate over the Anti-Paper Leak Amendment Bill in Parliament witnessed a heated exchange between the government and the Opposition. After the session, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju responded to AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, saying that the discussion should have focused on the merits of the Bill instead of criticizing the government. Rijiju said the amendment was introduced after considering students’ concerns and aimed at improving the examination system. During the nearly nine-hour Lok Sabha debate, ruling and Opposition leaders clashed over paper leaks, accountability, and youth issues. BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj accused the Opposition of creating a narrative that paper leaks began only after 2014, citing previous incidents during the UPA period. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi attacked the government over its handling of student protests and alleged misuse of force. The BJP said the Modi government would eliminate paper leak mafias. The issue of alleged paper leaks in Punjab was also raised, with SAD leader Harsimrat Kaur targeting the state government, while Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann denied paper leak allegations and called them cheating cases.
