BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut has sparked a major controversy after her remarks about the Gen Z generation during the ongoing debate over student protests and education reforms. Kangana criticized the behaviour and lifestyle choices of some young women in a social media post, using the term “gutter generation,” which triggered sharp reactions from opposition leaders, students, and social media users. Critics accused her of insulting an entire generation and disrespecting young protesters who raised concerns over examination reforms and paper leak issues. Several political leaders demanded an apology, saying disagreement with a movement does not justify attacking students or young citizens. Supporters of Kangana defended her comments as criticism of irresponsible behaviour and argued that she was highlighting the importance of responsibility along with freedom. Kangana, however, stood by her remarks and said she would not withdraw them despite criticism. The controversy has reignited discussions about youth identity, freedom, responsibility, and the role of public representatives in making statements on social issues.
