The Monsoon Session of Parliament begins today and will continue until August 13, with expectations of intense debates and disruptions. Following the all-party meeting and the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting, the Opposition made it clear that it wants discussions on several key public issues in both Houses. The government appealed to Opposition parties to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament and avoid disruptions. It also shared a list of eight bills scheduled for introduction during the session, assuring that any additional legislation would be discussed with the BAC beforehand. The INDIA bloc has convened a meeting of its floor leaders to finalize its parliamentary strategy. On the first day, the government will introduce two important amendment bills. Home Minister Amit Shah will table the National Honour Insult Prevention (Amendment) Bill, 2026, while Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will introduce legislation to increase the number of Supreme Court judges, alongside six other proposed bills.
