'India will be the next big super power': Laura Loomer says India is 'incredible' and says she can come back every year

Following a recent nine-day exploration of India, American far-right figure Laura Loomer has declared the nation ‘extraordinary,’ arguing that media narratives surrounding it are largely exaggerated. She emphasized her sense of safety and warmth throughout her stay, commending the local cuisine, vibrant culture, and generous hospitality. Loomer even predicts India as a formidable superpower on the horizon.

American far-right activist Laura Loomer has praised India after a nine‑day visit, calling the country “incredible” and saying she hopes to come back every year. In a post on X, she wrote, “My experience has been amazing and India is portrayed negatively in the media as a place Americans should avoid, but I realize a lot of that is completely made up.”She added, “The people, food, culture and hospitality culture are just incredible. I have felt safe and comfortable the entire time I have been here and India will truly be the next big super power.” Loomer also said she wants to visit South India next, noting, “I have tried to do as much as possible these last 9 days but there is still so much to see and do.”Loomer’s glowing remarks come after past controversies over her criticism of the H‑1B work visa programme, which she has said allows large companies to replace American workers with foreign labour.

She had previously made social media posts critical of India, which she deleted ahead of her visit to New Delhi, later apologising for some “anti‑India” remarks while maintaining her opposition to H‑1B visas. Her visit and comments have drawn a mixed response online. Some praised her for acknowledging India’s culture, people and hospitality, while others criticised her past statements. One social media user wrote, “As an Indian, I sincerely request you and your racist bunch of grifting friends to never set foot in my country again. You’re an absolute grifter and it’s a tragedy to society that you have a platform.”Loomer’s posts show a clear shift in tone during her trip. She concluded, “All good things come to an end. I’ll be back (hopefully soon). I love India. My misconceptions have been corrected. I have nothing but nice things to say.”
