Danapur Election Result 2025 Highlights: BJP's Ram Kripal Yadav and RJD's Rit Lal Roy in fray

NEW DELHI: Danapur is set for a direct contest between BJP’s Ram Kripal Yadav and RJD’s Rit Lal Roy as the constituency awaits the counting of votes on Wednesday. With polling complete and the fate of candidates sealed in the EVMs, Danapur remains one of the closely watched seats in Patna district. The constituency has a mixed urban–rural voter base and has witnessed frequent shifts in political preference over the past three decades.

A poll of polls released on Tuesday suggested that the NDA could be heading towards forming the next government with around 148 seats. The RJD-led Mahagathbandhan is projected to secure about 88 seats, while other parties may win nearly 7 seats. People’s Pulse estimated 133–159 seats for the NDA, 75–101 for the Mahagathbandhan, 0–5 for Jan Suraaj and 2–8 for others. The Dainik Bhaskar poll suggested 145–160 seats for the NDA and 73–91 for the Mahagathbandhan, adding that Jan Suraaj may not open its account, while others could pick up 5–10 seats. JVC-Polls projected 135–150 seats for the NDA, 88–103 for the Mahagathbandhan and 3–6 for others. Matrize predicted 147–167 seats for the NDA, 70–90 for the opposition alliance and 2–10 for other parties. People’s Insight forecast 133–148 seats for the NDA, 87–102 for the Mahagathbandhan and 3–6 for others. The Election Commission reported more than 68 per cent turnout across 122 constituencies that went to polls in the second phase. Danapur has seen alternating political trends over the years. In the 2020 election, the constituency had 3,53,534 electors and 1,85,563 valid votes. Rit Lal Ray of the RJD won with 89,895 votes. BJP’s Asha Devi finished second with 73,971 votes, losing by 15,924. In 2015, Danapur had 3,21,439 electors and 1,66,986 valid votes. Asha Devi of the BJP won with 72,192 votes. Raj Kishor Yadav of the RJD secured 66,983 votes and lost by 5,209. In 2010, the constituency had 2,55,418 electors and 1,25,050 valid votes. Asha Devi won again on a BJP ticket with 59,425 votes. Independent candidate Rit Lal Ray finished second with 41,506 votes, trailing by 17,919. Going further back, in the 1990 election, Danapur had 1,75,844 electors and 1,09,584 valid votes. Vijender Rai of the Janata Dal won with 56,479 votes.
