83% electors across 12 states/UTs given SIR forms

NEW DELHI: Indicating good progress of Phase 2 of special intensive revision (SIR), the Election Commission on Wednesday shared that enumeration forms have been distributed to more than 42 crore electors across 12 states and Union territories (UTs), constituting nearly 82.7% of their combined 51 crore electorate.Also, over 99.9% enumeration forms have been printed, EC said. It added that over 5.3 lakh booth level officers (BLOs) are engaged in SIR across the 12 states/UTs; in addition, political parties have deployed over 10.4 lakh booth level agents (BLAs).A statewise comparison shows that while 100% EFs have been printed in 9 states/UTs — Andaman & Nicobar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and UP — the printing is at 99.7% in West Bengal, 99.6% in Rajasthan and 99.9% Madhya Pradesh. In terms of distribution of EFs, Lakshadweep and Goa have covered 100% of their electorate, even as the coverage is 93.4% in Puducherry, 89.8% in Andaman & Nicobar, 93.2% in West Bengal, 94.3% in Gujarat, 81.4% in Tamil Nadu, 86.8% in Rajasthan, 79.9% in UP, 78.4% in Chhattisgarh, 74.4% in Madhya Pradesh and 62.5% in Kerala.The enumeration stage of SIR Phase 2 had started on Nov 4 and will continue till Dec 4.
