Who is Sonu MMishra? ‘Kala Hiran’ actor who worked with Salman Khan in ‘Sikander’

Who is Sonu Mishra? 'Kala Hiran' actor who worked with Salman Khan in 'Sikander' and quit the controversial Lawrence Bishnoi film

Actor Sonu Mishra has been making headlines after publicly distancing himself from the controversial film ‘Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy’. While the project has attracted attention for its alleged references to Salman Khan’s blackbuck case and the Lawrence Bishnoi controversy, many are now curious about Sonu himself. Interestingly, before being cast in ‘Kala Hiran’, the actor had already shared screen space with Salman Khan in ‘Sikander’.

Why Sonu Mishra walked away

Despite initially accepting the role and shooting for the project, Sonu eventually decided to leave the film. As stated by Bollywood Hungama, speaking at a press conference, he claimed he became uncomfortable with what he perceived as an attempt to present a one-sided image of Salman Khan.“I was so much excited because I was supposed to play the role of superstar Salman Khan. I had also started the shooting of the film. But when the intent is negative, being an actor, I don’t want to be a part of such a film. No doubt that they have a point of view. But you are showing superstar Salman Khan in a negative way and showing a one-sided narrative.”The actor further alleged that he had not been given a formal agreement or complete script before filming began. According to him, seeking clarity on the project’s direction ultimately led to his decision to exit. “I left because I had not signed the agreement. We shot for two days, and I asked them for the agreement and script because they were making a one-sided narrative story against a superstar. So, they understood I was not going to fall into their trap. I asked for the agreement to know what all clauses are there in it. After a long time, they showed me things, and it was revealed that I had to speak negatively against the star in the media. So, all these things were against my ethics.”

The controversy around ‘Kala Hiran’

Produced by Amit Jani, ‘Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy’ has generated controversy since its announcement. The film is reportedly based on publicly available information linked to Salman Khan’s blackbuck case and references to Lawrence Bishnoi. The project is currently facing legal scrutiny after Salman Khan’s legal team approached the Delhi High Court, arguing that the film violates the actor’s personality rights. The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for June 19.

Why Sonu Mishra is in the news

While ‘Kala Hiran’ remains at the centre of a legal and public debate, Sonu Mishra’s decision to leave the project has made him one of the key figures in the controversy. Having worked with Salman Khan in ‘Sikander’ and later walked away from a film inspired by the superstar’s legal troubles, the actor has found himself at the heart of one of the industry’s most closely watched disputes.
