Jay-Z seeks to recover $119K from godmother of man who claims to be his son

Jay-Z moves to block $119K debt from being erased in bankruptcy case linked to man claiming he’s the rapper’s son: Report

Jay-Z has filed fresh legal documents seeking to prevent a $119,000 judgment against Lillie Coley, the godmother of Rymir Satterthwaite, from being discharged through bankruptcy.According to TMZ, the rapper filed the request as part of Coley’s ongoing bankruptcy proceedings, arguing that the debt should remain enforceable because it arose from conduct involving fraud and harassment rather than an ordinary financial obligation.

Jay-Z says debt should survive bankruptcy

In the court filing obtained by TMZ, Jay-Z argues that the $119,000 awarded in his favour should not be wiped out because the court found it was tied to Coley’s “fraudulent statements and misrepresentations designed to harass and target” him.His legal team also alleges that Coley has spent the past decade pursuing what they describe as a campaign of harassment through repeated legal actions and public statements.According to the filing, Jay-Z has faced “numerous unfounded court filings, online harassment campaigns and public statements” from Coley over the years.

Long-running paternity dispute

The latest filing is linked to the long-running legal battle involving Rymir Satterthwaite, who has claimed for years that Jay-Z is his biological father. Rymir has alleged that his late mother, Wanda Satterthwaite, had a relationship with the rapper that resulted in his birth. Jay-Z has consistently denied the allegations and has challenged the claims in court.According to the filing, every lawsuit brought against him by Coley has been dismissed. Jay-Z also claims he has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees defending himself against the repeated litigation.

Coley challenges Jay-Z’s filing

Coley has asked the court to dismiss Jay-Z’s latest petition, arguing that it fails to meet various procedural requirements. The bankruptcy case remains ongoing, and the court has yet to decide whether the $119,000 judgment can be discharged.
