Sivakarthikeyan BREAKS silence on industry hurdles

'I’m not here to compete': Sivakarthikeyan BREAKS silence on industry hurdles at 'Thaai Kizhavi' pre-release event

Sivakarthikeyan, at the ‘Thaai Kizhavi’ event, shared his journey from uncertainty to stardom, emphasizing his production house’s focus on meaningful stories and supporting friends. He highlighted ‘Kanaa’ and ‘Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu Odu Raja’ as examples of his commitment. He declared he’s not competing but aims to overcome industry hurdles to foster honest filmmaking and give back.

Sivakarthikeyan, at the ‘Thaai Kizhavi’ trailer launch in Chennai, delivered a sincere speech about his transition from a laid-back young man without any definite plan in mind to a star who has grown in and with the audience. For an actor who is beginning his career, Sivakarthikeyan says that he never aimed to be the most popular or the lead actor; he just wanted to do any role. But he explains that the focus on the larger picture became so intense that he forgot about the immediate benefits of celebrity status. It is that way of thinking that has led to the establishment of his company. That perspective has inspired him to launch his own production house. There are no commercial aspects in telling a story. This was partly because of his desire to help his friends create and tell more meaningful stories, as well as to provide employment opportunities in the movie industry.

Sivakarthikeyan’s cinema desire

As he explained the purpose behind his productions, Sivakarthikeyan pointed out that each movie under his banner has a strong justification. ‘Kanaa’ applauded women’s power and unveiled women’s cricket as a cause, while ‘Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu Odu Raja’ created opportunities for YouTube content makers, who were longing for cinema. He expressed his satisfaction by mentioning ‘Vaazhl,’ ‘Doctor,’ and ‘Kurangu Pedal,’ which are still being screened in schools. ‘Kottukkaali,’ he clarified, was made purely to honour a sincere filmmaker, proving that impact and recognition of talent matter more to him than commercial success.

Why ‘Thaai Kizhavi’ felt special

According to Cinema Express, the actor–producer revealed that he decided to back ‘Thaai Kizhavi’ the moment he heard the story. Calling every performer in the film a ‘star,’ he reserved exceptional praise for Radhika Sarathkumar, saying no one else in India could have portrayed that role. He talked about his lovely artistic synergy with Sivakumar Murugesan, and how he admires Kamal Haasan’s frankness, and underlined the appreciation shown by the veteran star in creating numerous new stars in the film. That’s something that reportedly offered fulfilment to Sivakarthikeyan as a producer even without the expected box office returns.

Sivakarthikeyan’s powerful stand against industry obstacles

The highlight of his speech was his frank observation about the difficulties in the film industry. He made it clear that he is not in a race with anyone and has no intention of defeating or replacing others, his only goal is to make the most of the opportunities given to him. While audiences have always stood by him, he pointed out that the real barriers often come from within the industry. Yet, he declared he is ready to cross them and requested the freedom to keep doing good work. Taking full responsibility for both hits and failures, he ended with a powerful promise: if those hurdles are removed, he will introduce many more honest filmmakers and continue giving back to the industry that gave him his life.
