Anuradha Paudwal says her comments on Ram Mandir theft and Vishwaguru were taken out of context

Anuradha Paudwal reacts to controversy surrounding her comments on Ram Mandir donation theft and 'Vishwaguru' narrative: 'It is taken out of context and sensationalised'

National Award-winning singer Anuradha Paudwal has been in the news with regards to the controversy surrounding her recent remarks on the Ram Mandir and the ‘Vishwaguru’ narrative. Breaking her silence, the veteran singer said that her comments had been taken out of context and sensationalised, leading to a distorted interpretation of what she intended to convey. The controversy stems from Anuradha’s recent appearance on journalist Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, where she questioned India’s ‘Vishwaguru’ narrative while discussing issues related to education. She argued that the reported closure of thousands of schools raises concerns about the country’s preparedness to become a global leader. The veteran singer took Instagram and said that her recent comments have been taken out of context. Anuradha shared a note expressing her respect for India and its leadership while asserting that every citizen has the right to voice their opinions respectfully. “Namaskar to all my family friends and fans. I appreciate the love and respect you have given me for my work. I also love and respect my nation and its leadership. Every citizen including me understands that we have to be educated to grow and lead in this world. I will always stand by that. We are all allowed to express our views respectfully in this country.”She further objected to clipped versions of her conversation being circulated online, insisting that they did not reflect the complete context.”But I thoroughly resent when a conversation is taken out of context and sensationalised giving out a wrong tone. I do not endorse those videos and request people not to encourage such creators. Please note this is not a clarification but no one is allowed to use a conversation out of context for their convenience.”Reflecting on how her views have evolved over time, the singer said she no longer sees the situation in the same way she once did. She added, “A few years ago, I also believed that India would become a Vishwaguru. But now I see more and more things happening that seem to contradict that vision. This nonsense needs to stop.”Anuradha also had referred to the alleged Ram Mandir donation scam, saying that reports of such incidents at a place of immense religious significance were worrying. She added that if India truly aspires to become a ‘Vishwaguru’, it must first uphold the values and principles associated with that ideal. The singer also reiterated her concerns over education, claiming that a large number of schools across the country have been shut down.
