Katy Perry speaks candidly on motherhood: Says she’s a ‘strong, steady, intelligent, funny, weird woman’ for Daisy Dove

Katy Perry is all about embracing her life as a loving and weird mother to her daughter, Daisy Dove. In a recent interview, the 41-year-old pop icon gave rare insight into what it means for her to be a mother and how everything has been for her in the past couple of years. For the unversed, Perry shares her daughter, Daisy Dove, who is 5 years old now, with her ex-partner, Orlando Bloom.

While in conversation with PEOPLE, the ‘Roar’ singer got candid about what it is like to be a mother. While discussing having her daughter with her during the ‘Lifetimes’ tour, Perry cited her gratitude for being a strong role model for her girl.She said, “I think when mothers can be their most supported, authentic selves, that is always a good template for children to model. And I’m just glad to model a strong, steady, intelligent, funny, weird woman for my beautiful daughter.” She added that for her daughter to see her perform and do her thing on tour was a great experience for her as a mother.As to being an inspiration for her daughter, Perry is all about being her most authentic self. While talking about how parents can lead their children, she added, “I think if I’m out there living my most authentic, free, supported, empowered, smart, sexy life, and she’s going to have a pattern to follow, a model to follow.” As to what she wants her daughter to be, Katy Perry cited that parents can only hope for their children to become better versions of themselves.

Perry, along with her partner, Justin Trudeau, attended the Tribeca Film Festival for the premiere of her documentary film, ‘Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris.’ At the event, while being asked about her life and work, Perry was also asked about how her daughter, Daisy Dove, is. In reply, the singer proudly replied, “She’s a force. She tells me exactly what she thinks.”Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom share custody of their daughter, Daisy Dove, who was born on August 26, 2020, in Los Angeles, California.
