Karishma reveals security improved after Saif stabbing incident

Karishma Tanna reveals building security improved after neighbour Saif Ali Khan stabbing incident; ‘Yeh incident hone se pehle…’

Karishma Tanna expressed long-standing concerns about inadequate security in Bandra’s standalone buildings, urging her building society for tighter measures. She lives opposite Saif Ali Khan, whose stabbing incident in January 2025 exposed vulnerabilities. Only then did security improve. The attacker was arrested, and the case is ongoing with strong forensic evidence.

Karishma Tanna has expressed deep concerns about inadequate security in Bandra, especially after the stabbing attack on Saif Ali Khan earlier this year. Since relocating to the area, she had repeatedly urged her building society to tighten security measures, pointing out that Bandra’s standalone private buildings lack the protections commonly found in larger housing societies — making it easier for strangers to enter.

Karishma Tanna’s location relative to Saif Ali Khan

In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, when asked if she lives in the same building as Saif, the actress clarified, “Nahin, unke opposite rehti hoon.” Reflecting on the changes after Saif’s stabbing incident, she added, “Haan, hua. Thank God, hua. And I was just telling this to my building society that we need to have tighter security. Yeh incident hone se pehle se hi main bol rahi hoon. Jab se main Bandra shift hui hoon, tab se bol rahi hoon.”

Experience with bigger, safer societies

She explained her background in larger, more secure residential complexes: “Because Bandra mein generally… I come from bigger buildings. Jahan main pehle rehti thi, aur uske pehle bhi jahan rehti thi, wahan proper societies hoti thi — A wing, B wing, C wing, proper intercom systems, bada sa garden. Toh kisi individual ke liye andar aana bahut difficult hota tha. I’m used to that kind of security. And suddenly, when you come to Bandra, there’s no space. ”

Security vulnerabilities in Bandra’s buildings

Tanna pointed out that each building in Bandra is typically a single standalone structure, allowing someone to walk in directly from the street. She stressed the need for tight security, noting that anyone could easily enter by pretending to be a delivery person or visitor. She said she often raised these concerns with her building society, emphasising that such single buildings are particularly vulnerable. It was only after the serious incident involving Saif, she added, that her requests were taken seriously and security measures were finally strengthened.

Details of the Saif Ali Khan stabbing incident

In the early hours of January 16, 2025, Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder at his Bandra apartment in Mumbai. The attacker — a Bangladeshi national, Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad — climbed over a wall and accessed the apartment through a bathroom window using the fire escape. A nurse attending to Saif’s younger son spotted the intruder and raised an alarm. When Saif confronted him, a struggle ensued, during which the actor was stabbed six times, including one near his spine. The intruder demanded a large sum of money before fleeing. Saif was hospitalised and underwent surgery but has since recovered. Mumbai Police later arrested the attacker. A chargesheet has been filed, and the case is now moving to trial. Police are opposing bail, stating that strong forensic evidence links pieces of the knife found at the scene to weapons recovered during the investigation. Go to Source
