‘Jana Nayagan’ producer breaks silence on CBFC certification

'Jana Nayagan' producer breaks silence on CBFC certification of CM Vijay's farewell film

The wait for Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ continues as the film is yet to receive its certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Over the past few days, social media was flooded with claims that the much-awaited film had finally been cleared with an ‘A’ certificate. However, those reports were later found to be false, leaving fans once again waiting for an official update from the makers. The latest clarification has now put an end to the rumours surrounding the film’s censor status.

‘Jana Nayagan’ producer’s clarification on certification process

‘Jana Nayagan’ producer KVN Productions confirmed that the censor certificate circulating online was fake and that the film has not yet received certification. The production house revealed that the CBFC recently completed its latest review and has asked the team to make a few final changes before issuing the certificate. Clarifying the current status with Screen, the producer said, “The image being circulated is fake. The CBFC has completed its review and sent us the final list of revisions. Once we complete those changes, we are hopeful of receiving the certification and bringing the film to theatres.”

Makers remain confident about the film’s theatrical release

Despite the delay, the team is optimistic that the certification process is nearing its conclusion. Theatre owners in Tamil Nadu are understood to have started preparations for the film’s release, with the rest of the formalities expected to be completed soon. The makers are reportedly looking at a theatrical release in the last week of July or the first week of August, depending on the certification process being completed without further delay, the makers indicated. The update has renewed hope among fans eagerly awaiting Vijay’s final film.

Vijay’s final film carries massive expectations

Directed by H. Vinoth, ‘Jana Nayagan’ features an ensemble cast including Vijay, Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj and Gautham Vasudev Menon. The film was originally scheduled to hit theatres earlier this year but was postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. Since then, every update related to the project has generated massive interest among fans. The makers are working on the CBFC’s final recommendations, and everyone is waiting for the official certification announcement as it will open the doors for one of the most awaited Tamil releases of the year.
