Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were seen together in movies like ‘Kuch Na Kaho’, ‘Guru’, ‘Umrao Jaan’. They also got married after that as Abhishek had proposed to her at the premiere of ‘Guru’ in New York. But after their wedding, fans have been waiting to see them together in more movies. There was ‘Raavan’ and ‘Sarkar Raj’ but fans were excited when a film starring them titled ‘Happy Anniversary’ was speculated. It was being produced by Gaurang Doshi and was to be directed by adman Prahlad Kakkar. In a recent interview, Kakkar has revealed why the film never got made. When asked why the film was shelved, Kakkar said during a chat with Vickey Lalwani, “Because Gaurang Doshi was a crook. He was never serious about making the film. Aish didn’t like him because he had the reputation of being a wife beater and she’s very clearly about the things like that. But, Abhishek somehow sensed, felt that this guy wasn’t serious about taking it through. Eventually it fell through because he didn’t take it forward.”
He further revealed that the film would have been so good, if it was made. Kakkar added, “It was very well cast. Abhishek and Aishwarya were to play the main leads but Amitabh Bachchan was to play the sutradhar (narrator). But Gaurang had to suddenly leave the country. That was the end of the project.” During the same chat, Kakkar opened up about his equation with Aishwarya who he knows since her modelling days. He said, “I had told her mother that she will be the next Madhubala. She was so good.” When asked if he still meets Aishwarya, Kakkar said, “Pretty often because she comes to visit her mother often and I stay in the same building. Not deliberately but inadvertently we end up meeting, sometimes near the lift or something. She has never shown me how big she is. She is exactly the same as she was. She is so warm.”
