‘Dude’ box office collections : Rom-com slows down

'Dude' box office collections day 8: Pradeep Ranganathan’s rom-com slows down; needs THIS much to cross Rs 60 crore mark

The romantic comedy ‘Dude,’ directed by Pradeep Ranganathan and starring Mamitha Baiju, has taken the box office by storm, amassing over Rs 57 crore in its opening week alone. While there was a minor decline in its revenue, the film’s unique combination of humor and poignant social themes keeps it close to crossing the Rs 60 crore threshold.

After a strong opening week, ‘Dude’ — starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju — has begun its second week with modest earnings. The romantic drama, which was reportedly made on an estimated budget of Rs 35 crore, has already turned profitable, clocking a 55% return in just six days. On Day 8 (Friday), the film earned around Rs 74 lakh across all languages, taking its total domestic collection to Rs 57.24 crore. According to early trade estimates by the Sacnilk website, ‘Dude’ maintained an overall Tamil occupancy of 19.81% and a Telugu occupancy of 13.20% on October 24.

Day-wise growth and regional trends

Reportedly, the film enjoyed a strong first week by collecting Rs 56.5 crore net in India, with Rs 43.65 crore from Tamil Nadu and Rs 12.85 crore from Telugu states. Its highest single-day collection came on Sunday (Rs 10.6 crore), while the dip began from Wednesday onwards. With steady momentum and weekend shows expected to pick up, Dude now needs approximately Rs 2.75 crore more to hit the Rs 60 crore benchmark.

A charming hit with a sensitive core

Directed by debutant Keerthiswaran, ‘Dude’ blends mainstream humour with a thoughtful take on a real-world social issue which is a rare balance in commercial Tamil cinema. The story follows cousins Agan and Kural. Their lifelong bond is tested when one begins developing feelings for the other.Featuring Pradeep Ranganathan, Mamitha Baiju, R. Sarathkumar, Rohini, and Hridhu Haroon, ‘Dude’ continues to receive praise for its emotional honesty and engaging screenplay.
