Brett Lee recalls Shah Rukh Khan’s pep talks to KKR team before every IPL match: ‘I’m very lucky to call him my friend'

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has once again won hearts, this time with former Australian cricketer Brett Lee showering praise on the actor for his humility and leadership during his time with Kolkata Knight Riders.Speaking to The Gulf News, Brett Lee opened up about his bond with Shah Rukh Khan and revealed how the superstar would motivate the Kolkata Knight Riders squad before every IPL match.

Brett Lee praises Shah Rukh Khan’s humility

Talking about Shah Rukh’s personality, Brett Lee said the actor’s journey to global superstardom has never changed him as a person.“He came from nothing and has gone on now to not be the biggest actor in Bollywood but in the world. You would assume that someone who’s achieved greatness would have an ego, would be short-tempered, and wouldn’t really give the fans what they want. No way. Not Shah Rukh Khan. He is an absolute gentleman. I’ve only got great things to say about him,” Lee shared. The former fast bowler also revealed that he shares a friendship with the superstar. “We have a bit of a friendship. I’m very lucky to call him my friend,” he added.

‘Inshallah tonight we win’

Recalling Shah Rukh Khan’s pre-match speeches to the KKR players, Brett Lee said the actor would always keep the atmosphere calm and motivating before games. “He would always come in and would say his little speech before the game, which would go something like, ‘Okay, boys. You’ve trained hard. You’re looking good. You’re feeling good. We go out. Inshallah tonight we win,’” Lee recalled. The cricketer further mentioned that Shah Rukh never created pressure within the team environment and instead maintained a “nice, relaxed, calm, and controlled” atmosphere in the camp.
