Bill Gates stunned Indian audiences when he confirmed his special appearance in ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2’. A promo of the show that saw the billionaire interacting with Smriti Irani’s character Tulsi, set social media ablaze with all kinds of reactions.
Bill Gates’ Bollywood debut
However, did you know that this is not Gates’ first brush with Bollywood? Back in 2017, Gates made another surprising cameo when he featured in the film ‘Half Girlfriend’, starring Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. The billionaire and philanthropist featured as the chief guest in a scene that had Arjun’s character on stage, delivering a speech.
It must be noted that while Gates makes an appearance in ‘KSBKBT’ and even delivers dialogues, including ‘Jai Shree Krishna’, his appearance in the Bollywood film was entirely digital. The makers of ‘Half Girlfriend’ turned to VFX to feature Gates in the film. The unimpressive output gave way to memes and social media trolling.

Irani, the former minister for Women and Child Development, called Gates’ appearance on the show a historic moment in Indian entertainment.”For far too long, women and children’s health has remained on the margins of mainstream dialogue.
