Alia says PRIVILEGE doesn’t shield anyone from struggles

'Alpha' star Alia Bhatt says PRIVILEGE doesn't shield anyone from struggles: 'You still have those bad days and low days'

Alia Bhatt opens up about privilege: ‘I have my low days too’

Alia Bhatt recently opened up about her lifelong dream of becoming an actor and her privileged yet challenging journey in Bollywood. The actress also shared what her upcoming film ‘Alpha’ means to her.

Alia Bhatt shares becoming an actor was her childhood dream

Speaking at the News18 India event, Alia Bhatt revealed that her desire to be on screen took root in childhood, inspired by watching Govinda and Karisma Kapoor songs on television. She said, “Sach kahun to main to bachpan se hee acting kar rahi hoon apne mirror ke saamne… Mere paas sirf mere dimaag mein ek sapna tha ki mujhe ek din woh jo TV dikh raha hai na, uske andar hona hai (To be honest, I’ve been acting since childhood in front of my mirror. I had just one dream in my mind—that one day, I wanted to be inside that television screen I was watching),” she recalled warmly. The actress added, “Since then, I have believed that I was meant to be in front of the camera.”

Alia Bhatt acknowledges her privilege but owns the struggle

The daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actress Soni Razdan, Alia did not shy away from acknowledging her ‘privileged’ background. However, she was candid about the fact that privilege does not eliminate self-doubt or difficult days. She said, “I’ve had a very different journey, and I do acknowledge that when you come from a place of privilege, it’s easy to say that. But I say this even coming from a place of privilege – sometimes you still have those bad days, you still have those low days. And on those days, the only thing you can tell yourself is that I’m allowed to dream, and I’m allowed to believe in myself,” she said.

Alia Bhatt talks about ‘Alpha’

Alia also used the occasion to speak about her much-anticipated next release, ‘Alpha’, which forms part of the Spy Universe. Describing the film as a tribute to the power within every individual, she said, “Alpha is a celebration of strength and attitude. To hum mein se har ek ke andar ek ‘Alpha’ hota hai. Har ek ke andar ek powerful side hoti hai, which doesn’t need anything to flourish (So, each one of us has an ‘Alpha’ within. Every person has a powerful side that doesn’t need anything external to thrive and flourish). You just need your own self-belief and your own energy and the sheer dedication to believe that you can dream and that you can dream big.”Alia Bhatt will be seen alongside Sharvari in ‘Alpha’, produced by Aditya Chopra. Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film is set to arrive in theatres on July 3, 2026. Go to Source
