Actor and mimicry artist TSK has been earning appreciation for recreating the voices of legendary stars even after becoming a full-time actor. His talent has been heard in several films, but one particular moment has now become a talking point among Tamil cinema fans. TSK recently opened up about lending his voice for M.G. Ramachandran (MGR) in Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ and explained why the opportunity remains one of the biggest milestones of his career.
TSK reveals how he became the voice of MGR in ‘Jana Nayagan’
Speaking about the experience with Cinema Vikatan, TSK said, “After the audio launch of Vaa Vaathiyaar, where I performed in MGR’s voice, my name was recommended when the team was looking for someone to recreate his voice. I later dubbed for an important scene in that film with Karthi sir. Once they came to know that I had done it, I was invited to dub for an MGR scene in ‘Jana Nayagan’ as well.” He added that he did not expect the scene to receive such a huge response. “Only after watching the film in theatres did I realise how powerful the words ‘Thangame Thalapathy’ had become. After I shared it on Instagram, many people told me they thought it was an AI-generated voice and were surprised to know it was actually me,” he recalled.
TSK describes voicing MGR in ‘Jana Nayagan’ as a career-defining moment
TSK also shared how the opportunity came through director H. Vinoth’s team. “I had gone through an assistant director to record the dialogue. Later, I met H. Vinoth sir at the gym and told him that I was the one who had dubbed for the MGR scene. He immediately asked, ‘Was it you who voiced that photo scene? Thank you so much. Hearing those words from him meant a lot to me,” he said. TSK added, “Some people ask why I make such a big deal about speaking just one line. But in Vijay sir’s last film, getting to share a scene with him through MGR’s voice is a lifetime achievement for me.”
TSK hopes to meet Vijay after the memorable ‘Jana Nayagan’ moment
Looking ahead, TSK said he would love to meet Vijay one day and personally thank him. “I have always wanted to meet Vijay sir, but after becoming the Chief Minister, he has become very busy. I hope I get that opportunity someday,” he shared. Apart from voice work, TSK is also busy with acting projects.After ‘Lubber Pandhu,’ he has appeared alongside Prithviraj in the Malayalam film ‘Vilayath Buddha’ and is currently part of Dhanush and director Rajkumar Periyasamy’s ‘OM.’ TSK feels that while his acting career is taking off, voice performances like the one in ‘Jana Nayagan’ will always stay as one of the most memorable moments of his journey.
