After 'King', Shah Rukh Khan to work on 'Jawan 2' with Atlee with a South superstar to play villain - Report

Shah Rukh Khan is preparing for Jawan 2 after finishing King, with the script already locked. Reports suggest he will start work soon, with plans to cast a South star as the villain. The sequel may reunite him with Atlee. Jawan earned over Rs 1,100 crore globally. Meanwhile, Atlee is shooting Raaka.

Shah Rukh Khan is setting the stage for his next big franchise outing. While he is currently busy finishing ‘King’, the actor is expected to revisit one of his biggest hits, as early groundwork for a sequel is already underway. As per reports, ‘Jawan 2’ has now moved past the concept phase, with the script locked after several months of development.

According to India Today, a script and idea for ‘Jawan 2’ had been in the works for a while. A few weeks ago, the script was finalised. SRK will begin work on the film after completing ‘King’. The team is looking to lock an A-lister from the South as the villain.

Shah Rukh Khan likely to reunite with Atlee for ‘Jawan 2’

The sequel is expected to roll next year, once again bringing Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee together after ‘Jawan’ emerged as a record-breaking blockbuster across markets. Khan is reportedly looking to expand the film’s universe, which resonated widely with audiences for its scale and mass appeal. A formal announcement, however, is yet to be made.

Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ success

‘Jawan’, which released in 2023, became a massive box office success, grossing over Rs 1,100 crore worldwide and ranking among the highest-grossing Indian films. The film featured an ensemble cast led by Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, with Deepika Padukone in a special appearance, alongside Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani and others.

Atlee gears up for next before ‘Jawan 2’

At the same time, Atlee has been busy reinforcing his standing as a pan-India filmmaker. After Jawan’s success, he has been developing multiple projects under his banner, largely focusing on big-scale entertainers.
