Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar 2’ beats SRK, Deepika’s Pathaan in UK

Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar 2' beats Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone's 'Pathaan' collection in UK, earns £4.388 million

More than a month after hitting theatres, ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’ continues its dominant run at the box office. Directed by Aditya Dhar and led by Ranveer Singh, the film has now scripted history in the United Kingdom by emerging as the highest-grossing Indian film in the market.According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has raked in approximately £4.388 million in the UK so far, overtaking Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, which had earned £4.380 million. The achievement signals a notable shift in a territory long dominated by films led by the Khans, particularly over the last two decades. The Dhurandhar franchise has been smashing records globally as well. The two-part saga—Dhurandhar and its sequel—has reportedly crossed the ₹3000 crore milestone worldwide, becoming the first Indian film series to achieve this benchmark, as per Sacnilk. On the digital front, the sequel’s streaming rights have been picked up by JioHotstar in a deal reportedly valued at around Rs 150 crore, making it one of the biggest OTT acquisitions for a Hindi film. Interestingly, this marks a departure from the first instalment, which had premiered on Netflix. The sequel is expected to debut online between late May and early June, aligning with the typical two-to-three-month theatrical window. The film follows Jaskirat Singh Rangi, portrayed by Ranveer Singh, as he transforms into the formidable Hamza Ali Mazari. After eliminating crime lord Rehman Dakait in the first instalment, Jaskirat rises within Karachi’s underworld, earning the title “Sher-e-Baloch.” Sara Arjun plays Yalina, his wife, while R. Madhavan essays Ajay Sanyal, the man who recruits him for a high-stakes mission. The sequel delves deeper into his backstory, as he takes on powerful criminal syndicates and attempts to dismantle terror financing networks, leading to an intense psychological face-off with a shadowy mastermind.
