A leaked Chinese database has revealed that the Communist Party formally tracks foreigners’ movements in the country and maps their entire social networks. Using facial recognition, digital IDs, and online payment systems, the CPC monitors where individuals go and whom they meet, and correlates this data with others’ information to map their personal, professional, and social relationships.
