Oliver Glasner responds to Man United links as Ruben Amorim faces sack threat

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is the latest to be linked with a possible opening at the Man United as Ruben Amorim continues to struggle at Old Trafford.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has refused to rule himself out of the possibility of joining Manchester United if Ruben Amorim is sacked. Glasner, who led Palace to the FA Cup win last season and opened the 2025-226 campaign with a Community Shield victory, is among many top managers who are being linked with the possibility of replacing Amorim at Man United.

Amorim has been under fire ever since the Red Devils suffered a 3-1 defeat to Brentford last Saturday. The shocking defeat came after a win over Chelsea and just when it seemed like United are finally finding their bearings under Amorim.

The 40-year-old Portuguese manager has only managed to earn 34 points from 33 Premier League games since joining the club last year and big names like Zinedine Zidane and Xavi are being linked to United.

Will Glasner join Man United?

Another candidate, Glasner, was asked about the rumours by the Austrian edition of Kicker. The 51-year-old coach refused to give a direct response but also did not rule anything out.

“I follow all the rumours – and that’s all there is – neutrally and completely relaxed,” he said. “Focusing on the daily work with my players and coaches, and trying to enjoy it as much as possible.”

Meanwhile, reports in Europe state that Amorim continues to enjoy the support of the Man United board. After the Brentford defeat, Amorim reiterated that he can be successful with the team.

“I am always comfortable with the job. I am not concerned, it is not my decision. I will do the best I can every minute I am here. I am never concerned about my job, I am not that kind of guy,” he said.

“I’m always doing my job. If I win, I’m in a different state of mind. That is normal, but I’m always confident because I know what to do. I’ve always taken a lot of responsibility on your own shoulders.

“We can play better and we need to play better. It’s like ups and downs. When you win, you feel that everything, the momentum, is here. When you lose, you go back to the same place and you fight again for one win that can help you to create the momentum.

“I cannot tell you more than I say every time I lose the game. Sometimes you see one team that performs really well and you see improvements. And then sometimes you have some games that you don’t see that improvement.

“That gives you the confidence to say that Manchester United is going to get back. So it’s always the same conversation.

“It depends on the next game. So let’s try to win the next game and to improve certain things.”
