Liverpool ready to sanction British record move for Alexander Isak; Marc Guehi linked with Man City: Report

There are high chances of Liverpool landing Alexander Isak as they are reportedly preparing a British record move for the striker but they could miss out on Marc Guehi.

Liverpool are ready to make a British record transfer bid for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, but his parent club is making every effort to hold onto the Swedish footballer. The 25-year-old Isak scored 23 goals last season and made six assists as Newcastle finished fifth in the English Premier League table.

With the unfortunate demise of Diogo Jota, Isak has emerged as Liverpool’s top priority this season despite making big-money moves for attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz and striker Hugo Ekitike. Now The Sun says that Liverpool are ready to make a British record £130million bid for Isak this week in order to convince Newcastle.

Liverpool prepare record bid for Isak

Newcastle have already rejected a £110million bid and before narrowly losing to Liverpool at home on Monday, co-owner Jamie Reuben and a PIF delegation met Isak at his residence in Northumberland, as per the Daily Mail. The meeting was aimed at making the striker return to Eddie Howe’s squad.

As per the report, Newcastle chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan was not a part of the meeting, but he was seen at St James’s Park during the Liverpool game. He has reportedly asked the club to bring Isak back to the squad.

Isak has been training alone as he is looking to force a move out of Newcastle and to Liverpool, who are the defending Premier League champions. Newcastle, however, have a contract with him till 2028 and are hellbent on holding onto him.

Man City pursue Liverpool target Guehi

Another transfer shock to Liverpool can come from Manchester City as the former champions are now interested in signing England defender Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. Liverpool have been looking to buy Guehi for a while, but uncertainty over Isak has not allowed them to make a concrete move.

Now, The Daily Star says that Man City are interested in taking Guehi to the Etihad.
