Former ‘James Bond’ casting director does not like the current names floating for the role: ‘I don't want to see any of them’

Former casting director for James Bond who worked on the last three leading names, expressed dislike for the current names that have been cirulating around.

A lot of contenders, according to various reports, have recently been named for the next James Bond. While fans and netizens have shared their opinions on the matter, this casting director who worked on previous Bond films has her own to share. Former casting director weighs in on current James Bond contender

Debbie McWilliams, a known figure in the Bond world for casting the main faces of the film, has shared her opinions about the upcoming project. In conversation with The Independent, the casting director was quite candid. She revealed that, according to her, none of the names rumoured to be considered for the role is the right fit.She said, “I don’t want to see any of them as James Bond because we now know so much about them.” She also added that the role itself in the new era of James Bond, along with the actor hired for it, must be a “total enigma.”McWilliams worked on the last three James Bond films, hiring Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig to play the leading spy.

During the interview, the casting director also looked back to the time she hired Craig to play James Bond. She revealed that at the time, no one looked forward to his casting and many people were unhappy with her choice. She added, “He was such an unpopular choice. Nobody supported it. Not the studio. Not the director … He thought, ‘I’m going to show you bastards,’ and he did. And everybody went, ‘Oh my god, isn’t he wonderful?’ So don’t ask the people who they want, because they won’t know.”This time around, Nina Gold is tasked with casting the brand new cast for the upcoming film, while Steven Knight joins as the writer and Denis Villeneuve as the director.
