Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Likely To Operate From Next Month: Railway Minister

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared an update on operation of Vande Bharat Sleeper trains. While, it was expected that India’s first sleeper Vande Bharat between Delhi and Patna will be rolled out in September, Railway Minister hinted at October.

Answering to the speculations, Vaishnaw said, ‘Vande Bharat Sleeper is ready and tested. We will start two rakes at the same time. We are waiting for the second rake. It will arrive by October 15.

The sleeper variant of Vande Bharat is equipped with modern interiors, improved safety features, and world-class amenities. Reportedly, this train will cover the distance between Delhi and Patna in just 11 hours.

Usually, it takes between 12-17 hours to cover the distance.

Railway Minister Proposes New Vande Bharat for Punjab

Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday announced a new Rajpura-Mohali railway line in Punjab, costing Rs 443 crore and spanning 18 km. Also proposed a new Vande Bharat train connecting Firozpur Cantt, Bhatinda, Patiala, and Delhi.

Vaishnaw underlined a significant increase in railway investment in Punjab from Rs 225 crore during 2009-14 to Rs 5,421 crore now. He expressed special thanks to MoS Ravneet Bittu and said the minister deserves full credit for the project’s development.

While announcing the new project, the Railway Minister said, “This is an important project. The Rajpura-Mohali new line is 18 KM long. This is a project worth 443 crore rupees. This entire area was, in a way, disconnected from the capital, which is why there has been a demand since 1960 to connect it directly.”

Ashwini Vaishnaw Moves ‘Swadeshi’ Platform Zoho

Following PM Modi’s ‘Swadeshi’ call, Union minister on Monday announced that he is moving to Zoho, the homegrown platform for documents, spreadsheets and presentations. He urged everyone to opt for ‘Swadeshi’ products and services.
