The Pahalgam terrorists had ordered mobile phone chargers on leading e-commerce platforms to remain connected with their handlers and overground workers (OGWs), an investigation by Jammu and Kashmir police has revealed.

“During Operation Mahadev, three mobile chargers were recovered from the encounter site. Subsequent investigation and technical verification revealed that one of these chargers was bundled with a Vivo T2X 5G (Aurora Gold) mobile phone,” a source in Jammu and Kashmir Police revealed.

He added that as part of the probe, mobile phone company Vivo and e-commerce platform Flipkart were contacted to trace the point of purchase of the mobile chargers found in the Mulanar-Mahadev Dachigam forests.

“Vivo, in its reply dated 13/08/2025, confirmed the charger make, and further information from Flipkart indicated that the devices were purchased by Musaib Ahmad Chopan of Iqbal Computers. In his statement, Musaib admitted selling the device to Md Yousuf Katari,” officials told CNN-News18.

In a meticulous investigation, police then established that on 24/05/2025, Yousuf Katari made a payment of Rs 14,500 through mPay. This transaction was corroborated by J&K Bank records, police said.

During interrogation, Md Yousuf Katari confessed that he had provided logistics support to the slain terrorists, Afghan Bhai, Suleman Shah, and Jibran, while they were hiding in the Dachigam forests.

The trio has been named by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for killing 26 people in Baisaran in April this year.

Police suspect that Katari actively helped the Baisaran terrorists with logistics and movement while they fled from Pahalgam-Dachigam.

In June, Bashir Ahmad Jothar (resident of Hill Park, Pahalgam) and Parvaiz Ahmad (resident of Batkote, Pahalgam) were arrested by the NIA for providing logistical support to terrorists

Katari, a resident of Kulgam, was arrested by police on Wednesday. Police have obtained a 15-day remand to question him in custody about other overground workers who could have been helping these terrorists.
