The body of a 63-year-old woman was found naked in the courtyard of a primary school in Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, on Tuesday. The police arrived at the scene and took the body into custody. The woman’s family has accused her of being murdered, and a murder case has been registered.
The deceased, identified as Kamla Devi, was a retired fourth-class employee from the Jal Shakti Department. The incident occurred in the Kudnu Gram Panchayat, near the Chuwari Tehsil headquarters of Chamba. Local residents discovered the body in the morning while passing by the courtyard of a Primary School in Kuther village and immediately informed the police.

DSP Chuwari, Yog Raj, stated that the police received information about the dead body lying in the school premises. Upon identification, it was confirmed that the woman belonged to the nearby village of Kuther and was the wife of Maghar Singh. Kamla Devi was last seen at her home around 11 pm on Sunday night (August 17), raising several questions about her death.
Kamla Devi’s daughter has alleged that her brother and sister-in-law used to physically abuse her mother and has lodged a complaint against them. The police have detained the accused brother and sister-in-law and have registered a case at the Chuwari police station. A forensic team has investigated the scene and begun further inquiries.
This incident marks the third murder in Himachal Pradesh within a week.
