Rain Subsides In Mumbai After 4 Days

In the past few days, heavy downpour battered Mumbai, throwing normal life out of gear. Several areas in the city faced severe waterlogging with many streets turning into a stream.

Traffic was badly hit in the city and its neighbouring areas due to rain. In the wake of the incessant rainfall that started since Saturday, authorities also declared school closure for two days. As torrential rains pounded the city, govt offices were also ordered to remain closed for a day. The torrential rain also submerged several roads, rail tracks and also led to flight and train disruptions.

The accumulation of rain water also led to flooding of social media with memes and waterlogging videos. In one of the videos, children were seen swimming in the rainwater accumulated outside Oberoi mall. The heavy downpour prompted police to issue advisory for Mumbaikars to not step out unless important.

Finally, the intensity of rain began to ease on Wednesday, putting life back on track. On Tuesday evening, 782 passengers were rescued after two overcrowded monorail trains on elevated tracks got stuck between stations in Mumbai on a day of torrential rains.

Incessant rains over the past few days in various parts of the state, including Mumbai and its metropolitan region, had thrown life out of gear. Hundreds of people had to be shifted to safety due to flooding, which also damaged crops on a large scale.
