A shocking incident has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi, where a man allegedly ended his life by hanging himself at his home in Haveliya village, Sarnath. The deceased, Munna Lal Maurya, was reportedly under personal and financial stress including tensions related to an alleged relationship with a woman.

According to a report in Amar Ujala, Munna Lal, aged 38, was the younger of two brothers. His elder brother, Rajendra Maurya, said that Munna Lal died by suicide on Thursday. The tragedy came to light when his wife noticed unusual signs in the house and raised an alarm. Local police were immediately informed and reached the spot to begin their investigation.

Details From The Wife

Munna Lal’s wife, Chanchala, stated that there had been no fights between them, Live Hindustan reported. She mentioned that when he used to leave the house in the morning, she always kept the door closed. On Thursday, after cooking, she went to close the door but found that it was already shut and slippers were lying nearby. Seeing this, she became concerned and began searching the rooms when she observed that the window of one room was closed which was unusual. Upon opening the door, she found Munna Lal’s hanging.

Family Background And Personal Struggles

Munna Lal worked as a silver jewellery maker at a neighbour’s house where a woman named Basanti lives. He reportedly spent most of his time there, eating and working and came home only to sleep. His elder brother claimed that Munna Lal had taken several loans allegedly to support Basanti. Amar Ujala reported that Basanti’s husband, Keshav Patel, had died seven years ago. These personal and financial pressures contributed to tension within the family.

Munna Lal allegedly visited Basanti’s house earlier in the morning before returning home and committing suicide.

Impact On The Family

The incident left Munna Lal’s wife in shock and she reportedly fainted after seeing her husband. Their 9-year-old son, Ujjwal, was seen crying and clinging to his father repeatedly saying, “Papa, uth jao (Papa, please wake up).” Neighbours and relatives rushed to console the family.

Forensic Team And Further Investigation

According to Live Hindustan, the forensic team visited the house, collected evidence and carried out an initial investigation. The police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death. Investigation is ongoing.
