“I am glad that my visit is beginning with the stalwarts of the business world. I know many of you personally, from my time as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, and even after that,” PM Modi said while addressing top Japanese business leaders.

Emphasising Japan’s role in India’s growth, Prime Minister Modi said, “Japan has always been an important partner in India’s development journey, from metros to manufacturing, from semiconductors to startups.”

PM Modi highlighted that Japanese companies have already invested more than $40 billion in India.

Speaking on India’s economic outlook, the Prime Minister remarked, “In India, capital doesn’t just grow, it multiplies.”

“Today, India enjoys political and economic stability. There is transparency in our policies. India is currently the fastest-growing major economy in the world, and very soon, it is set to become the world’s third-largest economy,” PM Modi said.

“India’s markets are delivering strong returns. We have a robust banking sector and foreign exchange reserves of 700 billion dollars,” he added.

The Prime Minister also pointed out India’s contribution to the global economy, saying the country accounts for 18 per cent of global growth.

He further noted, “A few weeks ago, our Parliament also approved a new and simplified tax regime.”
