In a very shocking incident, a man brutally assaulted a woman for allegedly feeding stray dogs in a residential apartment complex in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad.

The victim, identified as Yashika Shukla, a resident of Ghaziabad, said that she was feeding the dogs late on Friday night, at a designated feeding place, when a man from Brahmaputra Enclave Society in Vijaynagar – identified as Kamal Khanna – came and started slapping her repeatedly, as per the NDTV.

A video of the incident went viral on social media platforms, where the man can be seen repeatedly slapping her for feeding stray dogs. In the video, she can be seen walking backward in the middle of the street while the man approaches her and slaps her.

“Didi, record video. He is hitting me,” the woman can be heard in the video.

The man was heard brazenly responding, “Yes, record this”.

At one point, the man grabbed both of her hands as she tried to protect herself from the ongoing assault.

The man can be heard saying, “Tunne maara hai pehle (You hit me first).”

However, several bystanders were seen watching the incident unfold, but none intervened.

The Ghaziabad Police have taken cognisance of the viral video. An FIR has been filed and the accused has been arrested, and a detailed investigation is currently underway.

Notably, the incident took place on the day when the Supreme Court scaled back its earlier order to catch and remove the stray dogs from the National Capital Region (NCR).

The court earlier this month handed city authorities a deadline of eight weeks to round up all dogs, ordering that they be held in shelters and not released.

The three-judge bench comprising of Justice Vikram Nath, Justice Sandeep Mehta and Justice NV Anjaria ruled that only stray dogs found to be aggressive or rabid would be housed in shelter homes. The bench reiterated that dogs picked up for vaccination or sterilisation must be released back into their original localities once the process is complete.

The court also called for designated feeding spots for the stray dogs.

“No public feeding of dogs allowed. Dedicated feeding spaces of stray dogs to be created. Action will be taken against persons found to be feeding dogs on the streets,” the top court had said.
