He also underlined that the government is moving quickly to build a domestically developed 6G network, which will be available soon for consumers.

Addressing The Economic Times World Leaders Forum, PM Modi reflected on India’s missed opportunities in chip manufacturing but stressed that the nation is now on the right track.

“We all know that semiconductor manufacturing could have started in India 50–60 years ago, but India missed that too, and the same thing continued for many years to come. Today we have changed this situation. Semiconductor-related factories have started coming up in India,” he said.

The Prime Minister confirmed that the first chip designed and manufactured in India will debut within the year. “By the end of this year, the first Made in India chip will come in the market,” PM Modi said.

Highlighting the push in telecom technology, he added, “We are working rapidly on Made in India 6G,” emphasising the government’s intent to keep pace with global innovation.

India To Export EVs

PM Modi also spoke about India’s growing role in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, revealing plans to expand exports to a significant global market.

“I want to tell you about another success of India. India is now going to export electric vehicles to 100 countries of the world. A very big program related to this is also being held after 2 days on 26th August,” the Prime Minister announced.

Praising India’s economic momentum, he said, “India, which follows the mantra of Reform, Perform, Transform, is today in a position to take the world out of slow growth rate. We are not the people who sit on the banks of stagnant water and throw pebbles. We are the people who can turn the fast-flowing stream.”
