A 22-year-old man allegedly murdered his parents and elder brother at their residence in south Delhi’s Maidangarhi area and has been missing since, news agency PTI quoted the police as saying on Wednesday.

The accused, identified as Siddharth, is said to have been undergoing psychiatric treatment for nearly 12 years at various institutions.

Documents and medicines recovered from the house suggested he was being treated for obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and aggressive behaviour.

The victims were identified as Prem Singh (45-50), his wife Rajani (40-45) and their elder son Ritik (24).

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan told PTI that a PCR call was received around noon on Wednesday, following which a team from the Maidangarhi police station reached the house.

Prem and Ritik were found dead on the ground floor, while Rajani’s body was discovered on the first floor.

Crime and forensic teams inspected the spot, preserved the scene and collected evidence. The bodies were sent for post-mortem, and a case of murder was registered.

According to police, preliminary inquiries revealed that Siddharth had told someone he had killed his family and “would not stay here anymore”.

Officers were quoted as saying that he had strained relations with the family due to his condition and had a history of behavioural issues.

Meanwhile, neighbours expressed shock over the incident.

Mohammad Shakeel Khan, a lawyer, said the family often had conflicts due to the father’s alcoholism.

“Whether he (Siddharth) is involved in the murders or not can only be determined after a thorough police investigation,” Khan said.

Another neighbour, Mukesh Tiwari, described the family as “quiet and decent” and said Siddharth had earlier run away from home a few times but always returned.

Police said multiple teams were scanning CCTV footage, questioning relatives and neighbours, and coordinating with other states to trace Siddharth.
