The all-new Tata Sierra received a strong market response on the first day of bookings on Tuesday, recording over 70,000 confirmed bookings, Tata Motors PV said. In addition, around 1.35 lakh customers have submitted their preferred configurations and are in the process of completing booking formalities.

The response highlights sustained consumer interest in the Sierra nameplate, which has returned to the Indian market after more than three decades. Tata Motors PV is positioning the Sierra as a premium mid-SUV, a segment it aims to carve out with the revived model.

Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said the response reflects customer trust in the Sierra brand and its market positioning. He said the model has been developed to address evolving expectations around space, comfort, safety and everyday usability in the mid-size SUV category.

The Tata Sierra was launched on November 25, 2025, marking the revival of one of the company’s most recognisable nameplates. Originally introduced in the early 1990s, the Sierra was among India’s first lifestyle SUVs and has retained strong recall among buyers.

The latest iteration has been redesigned for contemporary buyers while retaining elements of its original design identity. Tata Motors said the vehicle is aimed at customers seeking a balance of performance, comfort and practicality.

The Sierra is available with three powertrain options — a 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel engine, a 1.5-litre TGDi Hyperion petrol engine and a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated Revotron petrol engine. The company said the range is intended to cater to a wide spectrum of driving requirements.

Tata Motors PV has not yet disclosed delivery timelines or a detailed breakup of bookings by variant or powertrain.
