New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) on Thursday said it achieved its highest-ever annual production of 23.4 lakh units in FY26, becoming the only passenger vehicle manufacturer in India to reach this milestone, according to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

According to Economic Times, the company said it is also the only manufacturing unit under Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation globally to attain such an annual production level.

“Very few companies across the world have been able to manufacture such large volumes in a single country,” said Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India.

Takeuchi attributed the record output to the “carefully nurtured automobile ecosystem” developed over the last four-and-a-half decades, supported by long-term partnerships with employees, vendors and dealers.

He also pointed to the policy environment as a contributing factor, noting that measures such as the rollout of GST 2.0 helped strengthen market confidence and support demand.

Maruti Suzuki said models including Dzire, Fronx, Swift, Ertiga and Baleno were among its most-produced vehicles during the year, with each crossing the 2 lakh unit production mark.

The automaker currently operates four plants located in Gurugram, Manesar and Kharkhoda in Haryana, and Hansalpur in Gujarat, with a combined annual production capacity of 24 lakh units.

As part of its long-term expansion strategy, the company said it aims to raise capacity to around 40 lakh units per annum, supported by Suzuki Motor Corporation’s plan to position India as a key export hub.

“We aim to scale it to about 40 lakh units per annum,” Takeuchi said.

In March 2026, Maruti Suzuki identified land for a fifth manufacturing facility at Khoraj Industrial Estate, which is expected to have an annual production capacity of 10 lakh units once fully operational.
