Mahindra unveils 4 new concept SUVs: Key highlights

Thank you for being with us for the unveiling of the new Mahindra Vision concepts.

It’s been a pleasure to bring all the key highlights live from Mahindra’s Freedom NU event. Stay tuned to HT Auto for more information on the new concepts that the brand has unveiled. For more information about the Vision S and X, click here and for the Vision T and SXT, click here.

The new NU platform will spawn four new SUVs. They would come with multiple powertrain options.

What will the new SUVs offer?

Mahindra says that the new SUVs will come with a commanding seating position and will have superior driving dynamics. The cabin will be spacious and the boot space will also be plenty. Because it is a brand new platform, the floor is flat, helping in opening up room for the legs. The SUVs will have a 5-star safety rating in crash tests, even in Euro NCAP.

The last concept is the Vision SXT!

Making its debut alongside the Vision.T, the Vision.SXT pickup concept combines robust practicality with a more sophisticated, modern design. Departing from the traditional Mahindra pickup aesthetics, it showcases prominent cladding on the wheel arches, a wide bonnet, and a sturdy, substantial bumper.

Additionally, the design incorporates LED headlamps set in sculpted housings, a flatbed equipped with spare wheels, and an overall shape that achieves a harmonious balance between work-ready resilience and contemporary proportions.

Where the Vision T is an SUV, the SXT has a bed at the rear, making it a pick-up truck.

Mahindra unveils Vision T

The Mahindra Vision T embodies the essence of the Thar in an electrified version. Its upright, boxy dimensions and robust stance clearly reflect its off-road heritage. The front end is characterized by a flat, sculpted hood with visible latches, wide flared wheel arches housing chunky tires, and a split grille featuring horizontal slats, all of which draw visual inspiration from the Thar Roxx. Square headlamps framed by vertical LED strips enhance its striking appearance.

At the back, square tail lamps with vertical light bars and a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate provide a classic SUV aesthetic. Although technical specifications will not be disclosed until August 15, 2025, the Vision T is anticipated to include a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration to complement its rugged design.

Vision X makes global debut!

Mahindra has also revealed the Vision X concept. It is a coupe SUV that seems like it is made for the urban environment. We are expecting that it will sit under 4 metres to rival the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue among others.

Vision S unveiled!

Mahindra Vision S seems like a compact SUV that could be the new everyday SUV from the brand. There is a possibility that the upcoming new-generation Bolero will be based on this concept only.

The Vision S could be a compact SUV that can do everything.

Several SUVs to be based on the new platform

The NU_IQ will spin out several SUVs with the same wheelbase of 2665 mm. The overall length will be between 3,990 mm to 4,320 mm. It will have the largest cabin space for a 4.3 metre SUV as well as a sub 4 metre SUV. It will support multiple powertrains, can accommodate FWD and AWD and LHD as well as RHD.

Built for off-roading

In true Mahindra fashion, the platform is built for off-roading. Mahindra has given special special attention to the offroad angles. The approach angle is 28 degrees, ramp break over angle is 28.2 degrees and departure angle of 34.9 degrees.

The NU_IQ platform will be ready for off-roading.

Comfort to be the key highlight

Mahindra says that they have given special attention to the comfort for the new platform. It will feature 5 link rear suspension and DAVINCI Damper technology, which the brand says is the first time in the world.

Mahindra will get a new suspension setup in the front and rear.

Roominess is the key

NU_IQ gives special attention to the amount of space for the occupants. The couple distance is 830. The second row leg room is 937 whereas the second row shoulder room is 1404.

Action starts!

Mahindra has announced new platform. It is called NU_IQ. Starting from 2027, the brand will produce global standard products. The products will compete in the C Segment SUV space.

What is Vision X Concept?

The Vision.X breaks from the rugged mould, adopting a sleeker, more compact, and urban-friendly design, suggesting it could be an electrified or hybrid member of the XUV family.

What is the Vision SXT Concept?

The Vision SXT blends utility with off-road readiness, showing the design cues of a pickup-style SUV—perhaps a production-bound evolution of the Global Pik-Up concept.

What is the Vision S Concept?

The Vision.S, with its upright linearity, bonnet scoops, and muscular build, looks set in the lineage of the Scorpio N, suggesting a potential electric variant of the SUV. The Scorpio N has performed well for a ladder frame chassis. It is offered with a petrol as well as a diesel engine along with a 4×4 drivetrain. The electric counterpart should also get dual motors to enable four wheel drive. Having said that, once again nothing is confirmed as of now.

What is the Vision T Concept?

While nothing is confirmed as of now, the teaser showcased by the brand reveals an angular bonnet, untamed wheel arches, bonnet latches, and upright stance—features that clearly inherit from the Thar’s DNA and might indicate a more developed Thar.e inspired model.

Mahindra Vision.T
