Mahindra & Mahindra on Thursday expanded its lifestyle SUV portfolio with the launch of the Thar ROXX STAR EDN, a new special edition positioned as a more premium and design-focused variant of the Thar ROXX range. The model has been introduced at an introductory ex-showroom price starting at ₹16.85 lakh.

The Thar ROXX STAR EDN builds on the core strengths of the Thar ROXX while adding a suite of bespoke visual upgrades aimed at customers seeking a more exclusive look without compromising on performance. On the outside, the special edition features a piano black front grille and piano black alloy wheels, lending the SUV a darker, more sophisticated road presence.

Mahindra has also introduced a new hero colour, Citrine Yellow, alongside existing options such as Tango Red, Everest White and Stealth Black.

Inside the cabin, the STAR EDN gets all-black leatherette upholstery with suede accents, giving the interior a sportier and more premium feel compared to standard variants.

Mechanically, the Thar ROXX STAR EDN remains unchanged and continues to offer Mahindra’s proven powertrain options. These include the 2.0-litre G20 TGDi mStallion petrol engine, producing 130 kW of power and 380 Nm of torque, and the 2.2-litre D22 mHawk diesel engine, which delivers 128.6 kW and 400 Nm. Both engines are available with manual and automatic transmissions, with all variants configured with a rear-wheel-drive system.

Variant-wise, the diesel manual version is priced at ₹16.85 lakh, while the diesel automatic costs ₹18.35 lakh. The petrol automatic variant has been priced at ₹17.85 lakh, with no petrol manual option offered for the STAR EDN.

Since its introduction in 2024, the Thar ROXX has emerged as a strong seller in Mahindra’s SUV lineup, carving out a distinct identity as a lifestyle-oriented off-roader with modern refinements.

With the launch of the STAR EDN, Mahindra is looking to further capitalise on the Thar ROXX’s popularity by appealing to buyers seeking a more premium, design-led iteration of the iconic SUV.
