Kia India has crossed cumulative sales of 5 lakh units for its subcompact SUV, the Sonet, in the Indian market, marking a key milestone for the model in one of the country’s most competitive passenger vehicle segments.

The Sonet, which was introduced to cater to evolving preferences of Indian buyers, has emerged as a strong volume driver for the Korean carmaker. It currently accounts for nearly 35 per cent of Kia India’s domestic sales, helping the brand expand its footprint across urban and emerging markets.

Sunhack Park, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India, said the achievement reflected sustained customer acceptance of the product and the brand. He noted that the Sonet’s design, technology features and performance have resonated with a wide range of buyers across the country.

Manufactured in India, the Sonet has also found traction in overseas markets. Kia India has exported over 100,000 units of the model to nearly 70 countries across regions including the Middle East and Africa, Central and South America, Mexico and the Asia-Pacific, underscoring the growing global relevance of India-made vehicles.
