Jaya Bachchan reveals secret to 52 year old marriage and what made her fall for Amitabh Bachchan: 'Two identical personalities couldn’t survive together'

Jaya Bachchan opened up about her marriage to Amitabh Bachchan during her recent appearance at the We The Women event. Taking a look back on the 52-year journey she has shared with her husband, she explained that Amitabh’s personality is strikingly different from hers and that’s exactly what drew her to him. She described herself as outspoken and expressive, while Amitabh prefers restraint and silence, speaking only when required and with perfect timing. According to Jaya, their contrasting natures became the foundation of their bond. With a light laugh, she added that if she had married someone like herself, the relationship “wouldn’t have survived”.

Marriage as ‘Delhi ka laddoo’

Jaya Bachchan didn’t shy away from presenting marriage in a realistic and humorous way. Comparing marriage to the famous phrase “Delhi ka laddoo”, she said it’s difficult both ways whether one gets married or remains unmarried. Jaya Bachchan stressed that the legal structure of marriage should not be the defining factor of any relationship.

Why she advises Navya Nanda not to marry anytime soon
