Breaking News: Five Killed After Car Plunges Into Canal in UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri

A tragic road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri claimed the lives of five people late Tuesday night after a car plunged into a canal. According to initial reports, the victims were returning from a wedding ceremony when the driver lost control of the vehicle near a narrow stretch of road close to Paliya. The car skidded off the path and fell into the canal, submerging almost instantly. Local residents rushed to the spot after hearing the sound of the crash and informed the police. Rescue teams arrived promptly and pulled the passengers out of the vehicle, but five of them were declared dead on the spot. The driver, who survived the accident, sustained severe injuries and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where his condition remains critical. Police officials stated that poor visibility and high speed are suspected to be the primary causes of the accident. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events. The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the families of the deceased, turning what was supposed to be a celebration into a devastating tragedy.
