Paresh Rawal’s ‘The Taj Story’ continues to captivate audiences, amassing an impressive Rs 17.98 crore, even with a 40% drop in its second week. This cinematic exploration of the historic Taj Mahal has not only sparked interest but has also proven profitable given its modest Rs 7-8 crore budget. The film marks Paresh Rawal back to back success after Thamma.

Paresh Rawal’s controversial film The Taj Story has witnessed a steady run at the box office where after collecting Rs 11 crore in Week 2, the film saw a drop of just 40 % in Week 2 to collect Rs 6.67 crore which took the total collection of the film to Rs Rs 17.67 crore. The film has now entered the 3rd Week and on Friday the film as per Sacnilk has just collected Rs 28 lakh, taking the 16 day collection of the film to Rs 17.98 crore. The film revolves around a court case filed by Paresh Rawal’s character questioning the authenticity and truth of Taj Mahal as who built it and what was the purpose behind it and is it actually a mausoleum , he plays the role of Taj Mahal guide in the film. He even issued a clarification on Twitter, he wrote , “ “Disclaimer. The makers of the film ‘The Taj Story’ clarify that the movie does not deal with any religious matters, nor does it claim that a Shiv temple resides within the Taj Mahal. It focuses solely on historical facts. We would kindly request you to watch the film and form your own opinion. Thank You, Swarnim Global Services Pvt. Ltd.”As per Paresh Rawal the film has been made on a budget of Rs 7-8 crore, the film has already turned a profit for the makers. The Taj Story marks back to back success for the veteran actor as his other release Thamma with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna has been holding strong at the box office. The drop in the Friday collection seems to be because of new releases of week De De Pyaar De 2 with Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, R Madhavan and Meezaan Jaafri along with Kaantha starring Dulquer Salmaan, Rana Daggubati and Bhagyashri Borse. Both films have minted Rs 8.5 crore and Rs 4 crore respectively. The issues between makers and Paresh Rawal have been sorted out and the filming is expected to begin in 2026.
