Akhanda 2: Thaandavam collects Rs 37 lakh in advance booking

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 'Akhanda 2: Thaandavam' collects Rs 37 lakh in advance booking in USA

Riding high on the success of Akhanda in 2021, the anticipation for its sequel is palpable. The United States of America advance ticket sales have already hit $42,000, with hopes soaring towards a final tally of $400,000. While the production budget is significant, industry insiders suggest that the expected earnings may still come up short for the U.S. audience.

After a stellar box office run in 2021 Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda is all set to be back on the big screen with its second installment. The film is still 22 days away from the premiere but its advance booking has already begun in the United States of America and till now it has made a modest sale of around USD 42,000 (Rs 37 lakh) for its premiere shows and with still three more weeks to go the film is expected to at least reach USD 400,000. The USA market is usually dominated by Hindi and Telugu films from India, so the current collection of just USD 42,000 despite being a Telugu film and a sequel is very tepid especially when the film has been mounted at a budget of more than Rs 200 crore. It is the highest budgeted film of Balakrishna’s career. The film stars Nandamuri Balakrishna, Samyuktha Menon, Aadhi Pinisetty and Harshaali Malhotra of Bajrangi Bhaijaan fame , it is directed by Boyapati Sreenu who had also directed the first part. The film has strong roots in Hindu Mythology. The film went on floors on 16th October 2024 in Hyderabad, the shoot then moved to the Himalayas and Khumb Mela. The film’s shoot also went international when some portion of the film was shot in Georgia. The principal photography of the film was completed in the first week of August in 2025 and Balakrishna completed his dubbing by the end of August. The team of Akanda 2 are all set to be in Mumbai on 14th November as they are planning to launch a new song of the film in the city.Balakrishna is currently riding high on the success of his last film Daaku Maharaj which minted over Rs 91 crore in India.
