Masked men in Texas protest against ‘Diwali garbage’, call for rejection of ‘foreign demons’; Hindu groups condemn

Masked men in Texas protest against 'Diwali garbage', call for rejection of 'foreign demons'; Hindu groups condemn

Three Texas men waved two anti-Hindu placards from behind their masks and called it a protest.

A handful of people hiding behind masks waved the US flag and some placards calling out Indians in Texas, and posted those photos on social media in a ‘hate bait’. They called themselves ‘Take Action Texas’ though it’s not known who they are, what they do and they did not even reveal their faces in the social media photos. ‘Don’t India my Texas. Deport H-1B scammers,” one placard read. “Reject foreign demons. Jesus Christ is lord,” another placard said. This placard even had photos of Hindu Gods with a red cross canceling them. There were three people and two placards in the photos, though they claimed it was their ‘9th point of activism for October’. “In response to all the recent “Diwali” garbage, we hit a couple different spots in Irving – a city that has been ravaged by H-1B scams and massive demographic shifts due to labor imports coming from India,” the social media post said. The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) reacted to the hate and urged the Indian-American (Hindu) community to exercise caution. Irving, TX. A group of masked men with “Take Action Texas” are seen holding signs calling Hindu deities “foreign demons,” peddling Hinduphobia and hate against Indian Americans. And running an X handle promoting this bigotry. @thecityofirving, we hope that you take note and ensure the safety of Hindus in the area. We also urge the community to exercise caution,” CoHNA posted. The Hindu American Council expressed concerns over what’s next for Hindus in the US as the situation is worsening. “H1-B criticism morphed into online Hinduphobia and anti-Indian racism. Then city council members and political candidates began calling for mass deportations. Now masked men are loitering on sidewalks calling Hindu divinity “foreign demons.” What’s next? We must be prepared,” the council said. Anti-Indian rhetoric has become mainstream in the US, riding on the anti-H-1B wave. Politicians are openly calling for the deportation of Indians, slamming Indian-American leaders of the Trump administration as well.
