Krishna Janmashtami Puja Vidhi And Aarti Lyrics: The auspicious festival of Janmashtami, also known as Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, will be celebrated on August 15 and 16, 2025. Commemorating the birth of the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu, Lord Krishna, Hindu devotees mark the day with devotion and grandeur. Krishna Janmashtami is observed on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada, as per the Hindu calendar.

According to Drik Panchang, the most sacred part of the celebration, Nishita Puja, which marks the exact time of Lord Krishna’s birth, will be held from 12:04 AM to 12:47 AM on August 16.
In Maharashtra and parts of northern India, the Dahi Handi celebration will take place on Saturday, August 16, 2025, with people creating traditional human pyramids recreating the divine act of stealing butter.
Devotees observing the Janmashtami fast usually break it after midnight, following the Nishita Puja.
Janmashtami 2025: Puja Vidhi for Evening Celebrations
- Puja should begin with the meditation of Lord Krishna. Meditate in front of the already installed Lord Krishna statue in front of you.
- After Dhyana of Lord Krishna, one should chant Avahana Mantra in front of the Murti by joining both palms and folding both thumbs inwards.
- After Lord Krishna has been invoked, take five flowers in both hands and leave them in front of the Murti to offer a seat to Shri Krishna.
- Following this, wash the feet of the deity’s idol and offer water to Shri Krishna from head to toe for the bath while chanting the Krishna Janmashtami Snana Mantra.
- Now offer Moli as new clothes, Yajnopavita, jewellery and scent to Shri Krishna.
- In the next step, offer various fragrance stuffs to Lord Krishna and then offer flowers.
- Now, take Gandha, Akshata and Pushpa in your left hand and leave them near Lord Krishna Murti with your right hand.
- Offer Dhupa to Shri Krishna while chanting the following mantra and light the dipak.
- Then comes Naivedyam. Offer Naivedya to Shri Krishna, chanting the Krishna Janmashtami Naivedya Mantra.
- Now offer Tambula (paan with betel nuts) to Shri Krishna while chanting the Krishna Janmashtami Tambula Mantra.
- The next step is offering Dakshina (gift) to Shri Krishna while chanting the Krishna Janmashtami Dakshina Mantra.
- Devotees then perform Nirajan (Aarti) to Shri Krishna while chanting the Krishna Janmashtami Mahanirajana Mantra.
- Offer symbolic Pradakshina (circumambulation from left to right of Shri Krishna) with flowers and pay homage to Shri Krishna.
- After Namaskar, seek pardon from the beloved deity for any mistakes made during Puja.
