Politics: Akhilesh Yadav Questions Congress’ Election Preparedness in Uttar Pradesh

A fresh political dispute has emerged between the parties of Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi in Uttar Pradesh ahead of future elections. During a podcast interview, Akhilesh Yadav questioned whether the Congress party was making adequate preparations despite claiming readiness for all 403 Assembly seats in the state. His remarks were widely seen as a response to earlier statements by Congress MP Imran Masood, who had said that Congress was fully prepared to contest all 403 seats if it did not receive a respectable seat-sharing arrangement. Masood responded sharply, stating that if Congress appeared weak to the Samajwadi Party, then Akhilesh Yadav should consider contesting elections independently. He also criticized what he described as the Samajwadi Party’s silence on issues affecting Muslims. The exchange has fueled speculation about tensions within the INDIA alliance in Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, the BJP has seized on the disagreement, arguing that both opposition parties are competing for the same voter base and exposing divisions within the alliance.
