‘Bison Kaalamaadan’ crosses Rs 10 crore mark

'Bison Kaalamaadan' Box Office collection day 3: Mari Selvaraj’s film starring Dhruv Vikram crosses Rs 10 crore mark

Mari Selvaraj’s latest sports drama, ‘Bison Kaalamaadan’, starring Dhruv Vikram, has made an impressive mark at the box office this Diwali weekend. The film, inspired by the life of kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan, has already crossed the Rs 10 crore mark in just three days.As reported by Sacnilk, ‘Bison Kaalamaadan’ earned Rs 4.25 crore on its third day, Sunday, taking the total box office collection to Rs 10.10 crore. The film had opened with Rs 2.55 crore on Friday and saw a noticeable jump on Saturday, collecting an estimated Rs 3.30 crore across India.

Film sees steady rise despite heavy competition

‘Bison Kaalamaadan’ released alongside Pradeep Ranganathan’s mass entertainer ‘Dude’, which earned over Rs 30 crore in three days. Despite this, Mari Selvaraj’s film carved out its own space thanks to strong storytelling and Dhruv Vikram’s performance. The film’s emotional core and social commentary resonated with audiences, helping it steadily grow in popularity. Word-of-mouth appears to be driving more viewers to the theatres.

Film’s occupancy

On Sunday, October 19, 2025, ‘Bison Kaalamaadan’ recorded an overall Tamil occupancy of 50.69%, reflecting a solid turnout from the audience. The occupancy varied across different shows, with morning shows at 29.42%, afternoon shows rising to 51.21%, evening shows at 58.25%, and night shows peaking at 63.86%.

‘Bison Kaalamaadan’ review

The Times of India gave the film 3.5/5 stars, writing, “Bison Kaalamaadan is the latest addition to the Mari Selvaraj Cinematic Universe. Even though the director’s films don’t follow a single narrative, they are, more or less, connected by an emotional and ideological thread. First things first, Bison is not among its director’s finest works. But the film, based on the life of kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan, is still effective and bears the signature stamp of its accomplished creator.”The review further adds, “The filmmaker’s interest in using animal metaphors continues with this film as well. Of course, the title in itself is Bison. But beyond that, you see the ‘Bison’ truly come alive in the body language of Kittan (Dhruv Vikram) as he engages in a fight or plays a crucial kabaddi match.” Go to Source
