Director Nitesh Tiwari’s epic saga is gearing up to take over the big screens this Diwali with ‘Ramayana’. After impressing all at CinemaCon, new details reveal that the film will be packed with action. While the Rama teaser saw Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram taking on giants and other creatures, reports now claim that Yash’s Ravana will also get his time on the battlefield.Ram and Ravana will not share any scenesYash, during a candid chat, revealed that Rama and Ravana will not share any scenes together in ‘Ramayana: Part 1’. He confirmed that both characters occupy separate narrative arcs in the initial chapter, with their eventual battle reserved for the sequel in 2027. However, as per the latest reports, the film is likely to open with an unexpected sequence centred on Ravana in a large-scale battle with his half-brother Kubera.Ravana to battle KuberaThe battle sequence will reportedly draw from a lesser-known episode of the ancient epic and will be set near Mount Kailash. In the story, Ravana seizes Lanka after overthrowing Kubera, its original ruler. This sequence is expected to establish Ravana’s rise to power before the narrative shifts to Rama’s journey. As a result, this will add greater depth to Ravana’s character, portraying him as more than a conventional antagonist. Yash teases Ravana’s origins storyYash had earlier hinted at this layered interpretation in an interview, noting that the film explores multiple facets of Ravana’s personality. He also teased a unique depiction of the character’s ten heads, describing it as one of the film’s most intriguing elements while declining to reveal specifics. In an interview with foreign media channels, Yash revealed that he will present Ravana “as human as possible.” He shared, “At times it’s important for people to relate to him, especially because we have global ambitions (for the film), so we need to make it familiar to the western audience as well.”He went on to explain, “The story should not deviate from the belief system of people. It was a great challenge but I had fun playing this character, because it’s got so many shades and it’s a dream for any actor to play him.”After the release of the ‘Rama’ first glimpse, rumours are rife that the makers will soon release a similar such first glimpse for Yash’s Ravana.
